Version 228 offers about 20% speed improvements for Pentium 2, Pentium 3, and all Athlon processors. Pentium 4 processors get about a 3x improvement. Of lesser importance, there are other new features.
Step 1. You can upgrade even if you are in the middle of testing an exponent. Stop and exit the current version of the program. Optionally back up the directory.
Step 2. Download the appropriate program for your OS.
Step 3. Install the new version overwriting the previous version.
Step 4. Read whatsnew.txt.
Step 5. Start the new version. If you are using a P4, use Options/CPU to set the CPU type properly.
